A quick update - re what's going on
I always tried to post at least a couple times a month, it's fun, I like it,
and it's been helpful to jot down whatever I was working on for future
reference.
But in the last month things got really hectic at work,
being in e-learning, summer is when big stuff happens as we have pretty much no
users using our network.
Besides that I've also resigned, to pursue other opportunities but most
importantly to resume travelling. This meant all my spare time went into
personal projects and understanding what the best move could be. I definitely
intend to carry on with system administration and this website, IT is still
what I call home, altho I'm considering doing more programming.
It seems I've also managed to convince an admin friend of mine to start
contributing to the blog, altho knowing his laziness this ain't given, but let's
cross fingers, he'd be a very welcome addition.
I've got material and some notes for 2 new articles, one around BMC (Baseboard
Management Controller) based technologies (ILO/LOM/IPMI etc), and another on
how to setup Trac to be used in a
business/customer facing environments.
The first one is part of some project I've been working on to carry out
installation/imaging of a larger number of machines completely automatically,
which involves booting order and other features that are traditionally
only available via BIOS at boot time; the second is something I'm setting up
for some friends and posed quite a few challenges because, for how good it can be,
Trac by default isn't ready to be exposed to your average customer.
