Scp is slow, that’s a known fact. Known and annoying that someone tried to fix it producing the hpn-ssh patch: SCP and the underlying SSH2 protocol implementation in OpenSSH is network performance limited by statically defined internal flow control buffers. Over the past 13 years of career in the tech industry I've been a developer, a system engineer, a devops person, a manager and a startup owner.
